
Software Developer Internship
JOB OVERVIEW
Job Summary
Design, build and maintain the software layer of our sensor systems. From Python backend services and API integration to the web-based interface. This person is expected to possess a strong foundation in Python, working knowledge of modern web development and UI/UX principles, and the willingness to go on-site for field testing and system validation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain backend services and applications using Python.
- Design and implement API integrations (REST, WebSocket, etc.) between in-house software, third-party platforms and sensor hardware.
- Build and refine web-based user interfaces, ensuring the user experience is clear, responsive and practical for real-world use.
- Participate in system design discussions and contribute to architecture decisions on data flow, module separation and scalability.
- Deploy, configure and troubleshoot software in Linux environments, including diagnosis of basic network-related issues.
- Take part in field tests, deploy systems on-site, verify functionality, collect data, identify issues and feed the findings back into development.
- Study and understand user and client requirements and propose practical software solutions to address them.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, or a related field.
EXPERIENCE
Fresh graduates are welcome.
SKILLSETS
Software Programming Proficiency
- Strong command of Python and able to effectively utilise it for scripting, backend services and application development.
- Familiar with version control using Git, including branching, merging and pull request workflows.
- Comfortable working in a Linux environment (file system, permissions, processes, services, command line).
Web & Interface Development
- Working knowledge of web development fundamentals — HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
- Good understanding of basic UI/UX principles and ability to build clear and user-friendly interfaces.
API & System Integration
- Understands and can implement API-based communication, including RESTful services and WebSocket connections.
- Familiar with basic networking concepts (TCP/UDP, IP, ports, DNS, HTTP) and able to perform basic network troubleshooting.
System Design
- Possesses fundamental system design sense, able to break a problem into modules, reason about data flow, and consider maintainability and scalability.
- Good critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to independently troubleshoot issues across the software and network stack.
OPTIONAL SKILLSETS
Optional Skillsets:
• Able to learn new technologies independently, including self-study from documentation.
• Curious about how systems work and willing to investigate issues beyond the immediate problem.
• Comfortable working outdoors and handling equipment during field testing.
• Project management experience is a plus, able to identify and prioritise tasks, manage timelines and coordinate multiple tasks.
